One of the rides will take you to the famous Tonto National Bridge, which is a natural arch in Arizona, that is believed to be the largest natural travertine bridge in the world and the other ride will take you to Jacks Corner. This corner was once a stage stop on the Annie Hardt ranch. Whenever the Salt River flooded, stagecoaches would stop and wait for the waters to recede on their journey from Globe to Payson. In 2008, the movie “Jake’s Corner” was filmed at the bar. This is a historic site and the store is filled with antiques and lots of memorabilia.
The Mogollon Rim provides breathtaking views overlooking an expansive forest of pine trees. The rim is a true geological wonder hosting sedimentary, volcanic and metamorphic rock dating back to the Precambrian era. During the Mesozic Age, the earth's crust underwent an upheaval. The vertical wall of rock formed what we now call the Mogollon Rim. Historians say the geological feature is named for Juan Ignacio Flores Mogollon, a Spanish governor of New Mexico from 1712 to 1715. An area referred to as “Hellsgate Wilderness’ is also located on the edge of Mogollon area.
